Laurella Swift and the Keys of Time receives a Red Ribbon Award from the Wishing Shelf Book Awards
I am so proud to share that my children’s book: Laurella Swift and the Keys of Time has received a Red Ribbon Award from the annual Wishing Shelf Book Awards.
Here’s what they said about it:
“A thrilling time travel adventure for 9 – 12 year olds. A RED RIBBON WINNER and highly recommended!”

And here are a couple of reviews from their young judges:
“I enjoy time travelling books, so this was perfect for me. I thought it was mostly exciting, and the protagonist, Laurella, was determined and brave. The Persia setting was interesting too, so I felt I got to know a little history AND enjoy a good adventure.”
Boy, aged 12
“I would award this book an A for writing style, a B for excitement, and a C originality. There are A LOT of time travelling novels in the school library! This book is not very long and I never got bored. I liked that the hero was of mixed-race, and I liked seeing how she coped with visiting a different country at a different time.”

Laurella is very close to my heart because she is based on my daughters. I created her for them when they were younger because we found it almost impossible to find books with a central character that looked like them. Knowing that her adventures are being enjoyed by other children – girls and boys – makes my heart sing!
Laurella Swift and the Keys of Time is the first book in my Swift Adventure series. The second book in the series is called: Laurella Swift and the Voyage of Discovery and the third book is called: Laurella Swift and the Ocean of Mystery.
